YayTally uses essential browser LocalStorage and session cookies strictly to make the tally counter app work fast, save your counter values on your device, and preserve your theme preferences (Dark Mode / Light Mode). We do NOT use invasive tracking cookies or sell your browsing history.

LocalStorage is a modern browser feature that allows web applications like YayTally to save data directly on your device with faster speed and greater capacity without constantly transmitting data back and forth to servers over the internet.

1. Strictly Necessary Storage

Stores your tally counter entries, names, targets, notes, timer state, and group categories inside LocalStorage so your data remains saved even if you refresh or close your browser tab.
2. Preference & Customization Storage
FunctionalRemembers your chosen color theme (Dark Mode or Light Mode), view preferences (Grid, List, or Single Counter view), audio volume level, and step size defaults.
3. Authentication & Cloud Sync Cookies
SecurityUsed by Firebase Authentication to keep you securely signed in to your cloud backup account across page reloads without forcing you to re-enter your password continuously.
4. Performance & Analytics Cookies
AnalyticsStandard web analytics cookies may collect anonymous technical performance data (such as page load times and device types) to help us optimize speed and prevent technical crashes.
3 How to Control & Clear Cookies or Local Storage
You have complete control over browser storage. You can delete or block cookies and LocalStorage through your web browser settings at any time:

- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.

Note: Clearing browser LocalStorage in Guest Mode will clear your locally saved counters. We recommend exporting a CSV or PDF backup before clearing your browser history.
